Ford’s SVT Lightning – Parts and Accessories

The Lightning made its first debut in 1993 and was Ford’s performance truck answer to GM’s Chevy 454 SS and the GMC Syclone. It was based on the F-150 platform with a number of performance upgrades. They took a set of “GT40″ heads and a set of hypereutectic pistons and fitted them to a standard 351 CID Windsor and managed to produce roughly 240 hp with 340 ft-lb of torque. Not only did the truck have decent power, but it could also handle the turns amazingly well for a truck, pulling 0.88 g’s lateral acceleration.

Jeep Lift Kits

A very basic lift is to remove the cab from the frame and install thicker spacers under it. That lifts it up and gives more room for the tires. This only goes so far. Any more lift has to come from the suspension. That’s what a Jeep Kit is for. Depending on the model year and amount of lift desired the lift kit can go from simple to very complicated. New springs give a simple lift but increase the steering and drive shaft angles to the point where they are no longer safe. A complete Jeep Lift Kit has all of the parts needed to adjust for that.
